The Sacrament of the Sick
This wonderful sacrament is for our healing. Whether we are infirmed in body, mind or spirit we can celebrate this sacrament and receive the grace of God. This grace can enable us to find peace of mind and heart, be healed of pain and suffering or give us the strength to endure it. This sacrament can be celebrated at any time and at any age. If we are preparing for surgery we should be receive this sacrament prior to entering the hospital. If we have a chronic ailment such as arthritis, bronchitis, or any ailment that comes with age then we should receive
this
sacrament periodically. God in
His love for His people wants us to be filled with His healing presence
through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Beginning in September we will celebrate this sacrament once a month, on the 4th Saturday of the month. The celebration will alternate monthly between OLS and BJS and be celebrated at 11am. All those who are preparing for surgery, have chronic ongoing ailments or are in need of healing in some dimension of their life are urged and invited to come and celebrate this sacrament together. For those who have chronic ailments you may come monthly or every other month
to receive this sacrament. The
celebration will be simple and take about half an hour.
If someone is need of Reconciliation this sacrament will be celebrated at 10:30am and will continue to 10:50am. Those who wish to celebrate this sacrament need to be present at 10:30am. We will begin with a reading of scripture and then the hearing
of private confessions. If you know of someone who would benefit from the receiving of this sacrament please let them know about our celebration each month. Invite them and even come with them if they have not been to church in some time. It is always comforting to
know someone in a new place.
