 STEWARDSHIP

The story of God's love for us begins with the creation of life,

but it seems easy to take our very existence for granted.

Disciples revere life in its entirety because they recognize

the gift that it is.

It is the first gift we receive from God.

What is the Parish Action Plan?

The bishops of the United States define a Christian steward as one who:

Receives God’s gifts gratefully

Cultivates those gifts responsibly

Shares those gifts in justice and love, and

Returns those gifts to the Lord with increase.

This week you will receive a Parish Action Plan that will help you understand

how stewardship affects our parish and archdiocese.  The objectives of the

Parish Action Plan are:

To tell you what resources—both human and financial—are necessary to

provide all the current ministries, programs, and services in the parish.

To tell you about the possibility and need for additional ministries and

services in the parish.

To help you see the connection between the sharing of your time, talent,

and treasure and the parish’s ability to provide current and future

ministries and services.

We hope that the plan will help you see the breadth and depth of

ministry that takes place here at Our Lady of the Snows & Blessed Junipero Serra.

We have many exciting things happening here.

Please carefully read the Parish Action Plan.  Meditate on the meaning of

stewardship.  Most of all, let us pray together,

Lord, what do you want to do through me to accomplish your will for your parish?

What is Growing Stewards

Over the next several weeks, Blessed Serra &

Our Lady of the Snows, will be presenting the

concept of stewardship and its impact on our parish community.

This process is called Growing Stewards and

will help each of us learn something about ourselves as stewards

and how to put our stewardship into action. The bishops of the

United States define stewardship in this way:

“Who is a Christian steward?  One who receives God’s gifts gratefully,

cherishes and tends them in a responsible and accountable manner, shares them in justice and love with others, and returns them with

increase to the Lord.”

From the Bishops’ Pastoral Letter on Stewardship,

Stewardship: A Disciple’s Response

During Growing Stewards, you are going to hear and learn a lot about personal

stewardship and the stewardship of our parish through:

· Parish Action Plan

· Prayer Journal

· Bulletin Announcements

· Lay Witness

· Homilies

· Ministry Fair

· Intention Weekend

Please give special attention to these events in the life of our parish.

Meditate on the meaning of stewardship.  Most of all let us pray together,

Lord, what do you want to do through me to

accomplish your will for your parish?

Dearest Lord,

Teach me to be generous.

Teach me to serve you as you deserve; to give and not to count the cost;

to fight, and not to heed the wounds to labor, and not to seek to rest;

to give of myself and not to ask for reward, except the reward of knowing that I am doing your  will.
